尋琴記14：Brodmann PE-187

上次去看琴已經是將近一個月以前的事情了。這個月實在太忙，而且我在等Brodmann PE-187運到，所以這整的月我一家琴行都沒有去。上個禮拜Metroplex Piano的業務員打電話跟我說Brodmann PE-187已經運到而且調整好了，叫我隨時可以去試琴。於是大前天早上我便去試了Brodmann PE-187。

除了Brodmann PE-187，鋼琴業務告訴我還有一台二手的Yamaha C3要我試試。我覺得這個跟我打交道很久的鋼琴業務並沒有很想要賣Brodmann的鋼琴，反倒是一直想盡辦法要我買Yamaha的琴。也許Yamaha的利潤比較高吧！

Steinway & Sons A到店裡之後我先試了Yamaha C3，這是一台1972年的日本水貨。它彈起來聲音頗柔和，不像其他的Yamaha一樣聲音很尖銳。但是他的琴鍵彈下去的時候有一種奇怪的聲音。沒想到這種連鍵盤有雜音的琴也叫我來試，看來這個業務是真的很希望我買Yamaha的琴。

Yamaha C3的旁邊有一台剛進來，重建過的Steinway A。我聽說過Steinway A是好琴，所以我試了一下。聲音還可以，但是有一點悶，而且觸鍵沒有非常的順手。Steinway A的旁邊還有一台Steinway M和Steinway O。這兩台琴在店裡已經很久了，我之前也都彈過覺得印象不錯，我今天又彈了一下。我發現我非常喜歡那台Steinway O的聲音和觸鍵。雖然這是一台很老的Steinway O（因為它的鍵盤是象牙做的），但是很好彈，聲音也很不錯。待會我要問問業務這台Steinway O多少錢。

然後我試彈了我期待已久的Brodmann PE-187。跟Yamaha比起來，Brodmann的聲音的確更有「色彩」而且它的低音很厚實。網路上大家都說Brodmann PE-187是照著Steinway A做的，但是我覺得Brodmann的聲音跟Steinway聽起來還是不完全相同。Brodmann的聲音很有色彩沒錯，但是有點濁濁的感覺。Steinway的聲音不但有色彩，但是同時又很乾淨，那種感覺很難形容。而且Brodmann PE-187的觸鍵有一點滯澀感，沒有Steinway O來的平順。不過Brodmann PE-187的延音(sustain)非常不錯。

Brodmann PE-187為了要驗證我的感覺是不是正確，我又試了店裡其他幾台我之前試過的琴：包括讓我非常喜愛的Mason & Hamlin AA、覺得還可以接受的Seiler ED-186、和店裡的業務一直想要推銷給我的Yamaha GC2。

Mason & Hamlin AA還是一樣的讓我驚艷，它的聲音很美又很有色彩，觸鍵非常的平順。如果我有錢，我會毫不考慮的把這台鋼琴搬回家。Seiler ED-186還是一樣給我聲音很乾淨但是不夠有色彩的感覺。倒是Seiler ED-186的觸鍵非常不錯，雖然比不上Mason & Hamlin AA或是Steinway O，但是它比Brodmann PE-187來得平順一點。Yamaha GC2觸鍵很不錯，但是聲音單調，不考慮。我可以說Brodmann PE-187的聲音和Seiler ED-187像是處在天平的兩端：Brodmann PE-187的聲音很有色彩但是不夠乾淨，Seiler ED-187則是很乾淨但是不夠有色彩。能夠又乾淨又有色彩的就只有Steinway O和Mason & Hamlin AA。當然，價位不同，也許在我的預算範圍之內就是沒有辦法找到一台聲音又乾淨、又有色彩，然後觸鍵又平順的鋼琴。

Brodmann PE-187在pianobuyer.com上的SMP是$18,580，我期待至少要比SMP低20%的報價，但是Metroplex Piano報給我的價錢是$16,000。如果把8.25%的銷售稅加上去之後就要$17,320。這實在不是一個很理想的價錢。Steinway O則是開價$28,000。我知道Steinway本來就比較貴，而且又是rebuilt的，因此沒有一個比較的基準。

Cunningham Piano這個禮拜我要到Columbus, OH參加學術研討會。我打算在研討會結束之後去拜訪幾家鋼琴經銷商。目前敲定的有Columbus的Solich Piano，這家是Kawai的代理商。不知道為什麼DFW這裡沒有Kawai的代理商，因此我一直沒有機會試試Kawai的鋼琴。然後我準備去Dayton, OH的BHA Piano Center。這家代理的琴很多，其中包括Brodmann和Hailun。我很想要一對一的比較一下這兩家的鋼琴。最後，在回DFW的途中我會在Philadelphia停留幾個小時。我準備去拜訪在Philadelphia的Cunningham Piano。Cunningham Piano是一家有超過100年歷史的鋼琴公司。他們的創始人Patrick J. Cunningham在20世紀初的時候設計了當時很有名的Matchless Cunningham鋼琴。後來因為各種環境和經濟因素，在1945年以後Cunningham Piano就以重建和銷售鋼琴為主要的事業。幾年前，Cunningham Piano現在的老闆雇用了鋼琴設計師George F. Emerson來設計了一系列的鋼琴。這個系列的鋼琴是根據Cunningham的創始人Patrick J. Cunningham在20世紀初所設計的鋼琴為藍圖設計的，鋼琴的製造則是委託中國的海倫(Hailun)鋼琴。網路上很多鋼琴技師和演奏家對Cunningham的鋼琴讚不絕口，所以我決定要親自去看看。
